Il Referente Navigante della Società, C.S.L.C. Giuseppe Casini Lemmi ha realizzato la sua interessante testimonianza degli eventi che videro la nascita e la fine della flotta di navi passeggeri della Renaissance Cruises nel periodo compreso tra il 1998 ed il 2002. Quella compagnia, oggi non più esistente, arrivò a gestire ben otto navi gemelle nuove, della classe “R”, costruite dagli allora Chantiers de l'Atlantique di St. Nazaire, consegnate all'armatore con una cadenza di circa cinque mesi una dall'altra. Gli eventi descritti da Lemmi riguardano le riflessioni di un uomo di mare ma anche quelle di un manager in linea con le strategie dello shipping moderno e costituiscono pertanto uno strumento che ci permette di comprendere meglio quali sono le componenti – a volte imprevedibili – che caratterizzano il rischio d'impresa marittima dei nostri giorni.

The Shipboard Consultant of the Society, Capt. Giuseppe Casini Lemmi has completed his work about the events which regard the rise and fall of the Renaissance Cruises' fleet, concerning the time interval between 1998 and 2002.
Such a company, now out of business, came to manage eight sister ships of the “R” Class, built in those years by the ex Chantiers de l'Atlantique of St.Nazaire and delivered to owner each five months abouts. The events described by Capt. Lemmi concern the observations both of a seaman and a manager in line with the modern strategies of the shipping market and they represent a perfect tool used to understand the often unpredicted components of the shipowners' business.
